EAR CANDLING
Ear Candling Therapy is a natural and relaxing treatment of the ears which claims to have a variety of health benefits, including:
Relaxation and stress relief
Softening and loosening of ear wax
Reduced irritation in the ears
Relief from sinus problems, headaches and snoring.
Temporary relief from tinnitus
Easing pressure problems following flying and diving.
The treatment also has a calming effect and is said to improve circulation, stimulate lymph flow and revitalize.
Ear candles work by vaporizing their ingredients and creating air flow towards the ear. A lit candle is placed gently into the outer ear and is turned lightly to seal it in place. The candle then generates a pleasant crackling sound and a warm feeling while it draws out the impurities from the ear. This is followed by a period of relaxation together with a short massage concentrating on the sinus areas.

What to Expect During a Ear Candling Treatment - Before you have your Ear Candling treatment you will be given a Intake form and asked a few questions regarding any problems that you may have with your ears. This is to help assess whether Ear candling will be a safe treatment for you to have and to find out what your expectations of the treatment are.
You will be placed in a comfortable position laying down on your side. The Ear Candle will be gently placed just inside the ear canal and lit. The candle will be held firmly in place to prevent any of the ash from falling in or around the ear. You will experience a fire crackling sound as the candle burns and possibly some popping of the ear. You will also feel a gentle massaging sensation to the ear drum and some heat as the candle burns lower. When the candle has burned it is carefully removed from the ear and extinguished. The entire process is then repeated for the other ear. Once both ears have been treated you will be left to relax for a few minutes.

The number of treatments that may be required depends on several factors. The age of the person, the length of time they have had the condition and what condition the person is suffering from.
There are some guidelines that can be followed regarding the number of Ear Candling treatments a person can have to achieve positive results. For a problem that has come on suddenly, for example, a cold or blocked nose, it is safe to have treatments up to once a day for the first 2 days and then 3 or 4 more over the next 10 days.
Long term problems, such as hearing loss or tinnitus, Ear Candling treatments can be given 3 times in the first week, twice in the second week and once in the third week.
An Ear Candling treatment once a month can be beneficial for preventing problems.
*Please Note that One treatment may be enough for you, your needs are individual, please do not think that you must come 3-4 times in a week.

Ear Candling Therapy is not a medication and is applied externally only. However, ear candling does appear to have therapeutic benefits and is found by many to be an enjoyable and relaxing experience.
